7-Eleven Ventura Improvements

Located at the former Sam’s Central Market on Ventura Avenue, new tenants in the building include a 7-Eleven and Olas, a digital payment laundromat. Mainstreet’s scope of work included design of exterior improvements, such as building façade, site walls, and trash enclosure. The building was a Safeway market prototype, built in 1939. Safeway built these all over Southern California. They were a precursor to our present day supermarkets, but smaller, street-oriented, and with small side parking lots. Many of these buildings still stand, with assorted commercial uses and even some remaining as markets.
