We are proud to announce our Rancho Sierra Senior Apartments project has received an Award of Excellence in the American Planning Association (APA) Central Coast Section Awards Program! Rancho Sierra is an affordable, permanent supportive housing development located on approximately two acres of a larger, 54-acre parcel owned by Ventura County. The project will provide 49 one-bedroom affordable units along with behavioral health services for the underserved, low-income senior population experiencing homelessness or struggling with their mental health within the county. Additionally, an indoor community space is included in the main residential building, offering various programs, services, and events for residents.

RRM worked with developer Many Mansions and the Area Housing Authority of the County of Ventura to both design the apartments and bring them through the entitlements process under the County of Ventura jurisdiction. RRM’s Architecture and Planning teams worked closely to carefully design the project to meet California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (TCAC), No Place Like Home, and Senate Bill (SB) 744 requirements. Not only will these additional measures help fund the project, but they have already helped to accelerate the project schedule. Construction is anticipated to begin this summer and via innovative modular construction, completion of the project and leasing is proposed to begin fall of 2023.

We are so glad the project is being recognized for best planning practices and hope that others can see it as an inspiration to continue combatting the affordable housing shortage in our state.
