Yucaipa City-Wide Design Standards & Guidelines

Set at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains, Yucaipa is a family-oriented community with established neighborhoods, a quaint Uptown, and strong civic spirit. The City of Yucaipa retained RRM Design Group to prepare City-Wide Design Guidelines, including objective standards, to provide a framework for contextually appropriate architectural strategies and elements to be incorporated into development and redevelopment across the community. The design guidelines address multi-family residential, single-family residential, commercial and industrial development, as well as public realm treatments for key gateway corridors. Tailored guidance was crafted for special issues including Accessory Dwelling Units, building additions, accessory structures, and subdivision design. Ease of use and aptly capturing established and desired community character were primary themes. Community engagement (including study sessions, pop-up events, and stakeholder meetings) significantly shaped the resulting policies.
