Tremont Street Intersection

RRM Design Group was asked by the City of Avalon and ESG Engineering to help design a double mini-roundabout in one of City of Avalon’s busiest intersection in town. RRM was hired to create a key landscape feature in the intersection to celebrate Avalon’s unique artful and historic island setting. The two roundabouts will feature public art in the center circles with lights and mosaic surface. Tremont is one of the key crossroads in town where most of the Island’s traffic will travel during the day and night. The roundabouts must be mountable surfaces for fire vehicle access. The challenge was to create a beautiful space durable enough to accommodate heavy vehicle loads. The artful design will be a functional showpiece in one of Avalon’s primary multimodal intersections. The project is currently in the final construction document phase and will be constructed in late 2020.
