Main Street Moves – Ventura Man Street Vision Plan
When the City of Ventura and Downtown Ventura Partners launched a temporary parklet program during COVID-19, it quickly became a beloved community asset. As restrictions lifted, the City needed a long-term program that maintained this success while improving safety, consistency, and ease of permitting. RRM worked with City staff, stakeholders, and local businesses to create clear, user-friendly guidelines for designing, permitting, constructing, and operating permanent parklets. To address varied street conditions, we introduced two parklet types—Fortified and Non-Fortified—based on vehicular circulation. We also defined key design components and developed pre-approved site plans and materials to streamline approvals and encourage cohesive, high-quality design. The resulting standards give Ventura a flexible, safe, and accessible framework that supports economic vitality and enhances the city’s vibrant outdoor dining experience.
