Lodi Downtown Specific Plan

RRM Design Group is leading the Downtown Lodi Specific Plan to guide the area’s revitalization into a vibrant, interconnected, and walkable mixed-use district while preserving the City’s historic charm. The team’s work began with extensive discovery analysis which included a market and feasibility analysis for priority redevelopment sites, comprehensive mobility study with recommendations for enhanced bicycle routes and pedestrian safety, railroad quiet zone analysis and improved connectivity across the railroad tracks, and a historic resources inventory. Key deliverables include land use and zoning recommendations, urban design strategies, accessible public spaces, infrastructure planning, policies that incentivize the revitalization of buildings and infrastructure, and focused implementation tools that align with the City’s goals for additional affordable housing, park enhancements, improved economic vitality, and wayfinding and placemaking for the Downtown core. The plan emphasizes a robust community engagement strategy which included stakeholder and developer interviews, community workshops, and a multi-day charrette supported by Spanish-language facilitation. The Downtown Specific Plan will provide realistic collaborative design solutions between planners, architects, engineers, and economists. The completed Downtown Specific Plan will provide a roadmap for redevelopment and economic growth which celebrates Lodi’s character while positioning the Downtown as a central gathering area and economic destination.
