With the intent to create a more integrated and immersive theme park environment in new areas of The Disneyland Resort and The Anaheim Resort, the DisneylandForward project sought to weave together two separate planning documents to allow for the transferability of the previously approved, vested development. As part of the project, Disney retained RRM Design Group to prepare updates to both The Disneyland Resort Specific Plan and The Anaheim Resort Specific Plan documents to build upon the original vision for The Disneyland Resort that was established in the early 1990’s. Working alongside a multidisciplinary project team and City staff, the work effort provides flexibility in the distribution of theme park, hotel, retail, dining, entertainment, and parking uses that will allow for implementation of the desired integrated and immersive guest experience. The project effort also included graphic support for community outreach materials, the project environmental document, and development standard and landscape concept and application visualization to facilitate informed discussion on how revised development standards could be implemented. RRM also provided community outreach support to the project team at a variety of workshops, business groups, open houses, and other outreach events.

Adopted by the City in 2024, the updated specific plan documents will continue to guide the growth and evolution of The Disneyland Resort and The Anaheim Resort over the next 40 years and continue to ensure that the area grows as a premier world-class destination that draws millions of people annually to visit.
