Arlington Village Apartments

Arlington Village was conceived to fulfill the vision creating in the 1930’s of a rustic Andalusian village surrounding the cathedral-like Fox-Arlington Theater, hinted at in the existing romantic village scenes framing the theater auditorium and the facades of shops facing the theater entrance. The new three-story village is organized around an existing “village green” and courtyard flanking the Arlington Theater. A meandering web of smaller courtyards, paseos, balconies and a rooftop plaza capitalize on Santa Barbara’s Mediterranean climate and spectacular mountain, city, and seaside views.

In addition to realizing the original architects’ vision, Arlington Village is among the first new rental projects to emerge downtown in decades, helping to fulfill one of the City’s goals of new rental housing downtown by providing 33 modestly sized rental apartments averaging 865-sf each. The project features an exercise room, a parking garage, improved surface parking for theater patrons and employees, and 984 sf of commercial offices on the ground floor.

The architecture of Arlington Village relies on simple, evocative massing to create the desired mood, reflecting the character of the Arlington Theater. Captivating views of the theater tower and bold elements from public ways are provided at strategic points surrounding the project.
