This week's #fridayfeature is the Venice Beach Oce

This week's #fridayfeature is the Venice Beach Oceanfront Walk and Skatepark. RRM provided the planning and construction administration for the award-winning renovation of Venice Beach's 1.7-mile oceanfront walk. The project required extensive public outreach, including a series of interactive public workshops, newsletters, and surveys, working with various community groups and City agencies. The plan provided the conceptual design plans for plazas, performance areas, recreational facilities, and pathways, with innovative public art woven throughout the design. The Venice Beach plans were unanimously adopted by the City of LA and the California Coastal Commission.

Additionally, RRM worked with @wormhoudt_collective , the City of LA, and the local skate community to develop a 16,000 sf public skate park for the heart of Southern California’s skate culture. The original iconic skate area known as “The Pit” was torn down in 2000. After an extensive public outreach effort with the skate community, the design team came up with a plan reminiscent of the “The Pit” as well as new terrain designed to challenge even the most advanced skater. Congratulations to @cal_poly SLO on receiving approval of their 2035 Campus Master Plan! Over 6 years in the making, the Master Plan guides the development and use of the university’s main campus and provides a roadmap to an exciting future; one with much more on-campus housing for all student levels, redevelopment of the Campus Core to provide additional classroom, lab and research space, and high quality campus green space. Another prominent feature of the Master Plan is creation of a vibrant campus community and engaging all aspects of university life for students, faculty, staff and visitors. This includes a focus on recreation, dining, entertainment, retail activities, technology and providing work space for industry partners. RRM played a key role on the planning team throughout the process and was proud to work alongside an elite team of campus leaders and consultants to shepherd it through to adoption.

This week's #fridayfeature is our Grace Village project. Grace Village is a 58 unit affordable senior apartment building with 1,300 sf of community space. Following years of declining membership, an older church voted to gift this property to a non-profit partnership supporting housing for low-income senior citizens. The project is centrally located, amongst bustling business and shopping district of Santa Barbara benefited by its proximity to services and transportation. The apartments are designed in a modern aesthetic with sustainable design woven throughout such as permeable paving and stormwater retention, high efficiency tankless water heaters, and an extensive solar photovoltaic array at the roof to offset electrical usage. The landscape includes fruit trees and raised garden beds for resident use.

This week's #fridayfeature is the Woodlands Specif

This week's #fridayfeature is the Woodlands Specific Plan project (now known as “Trilogy”). RRM spearheaded the project entitlement, General Plan update, Design Guidelines, and preparation of the Woodlands Specific Plan –a 957 acre mixed-use, Master Planned Community. RRM was highly involved in community outreach meetings and directed public agency interaction and coordination throughout the planning process. The Plan included three golf courses, a 500-room resort hotel, a 20-acre business park, a Village Commercial Center, and a residential component with 1,320 homes. Additionally, it includes a series of pocket parks, a Monarch butterfly habitat, as well as extensive multi-use and equestrian trails. To encourage pedestrians and minimize traffic, most residences are located within a quarter mile walking distance from the Village Commercial Center and the business park. In recent years, some elements of the plan have been modified to accommodate more housing for the growing community. Project 24 / 45 #rrmdesign #45yearsofprojects
