San Ysidro Community Plan Update
RRM Design Group was retained in 2009 to develop land use alternatives, draft Urban Design and Mobility Elements of the Community Plan Update, and include a multi-layered bilingual public outreach strategy that will reach out to this diverse community. Situated on the US/Mexico border in south San Diego County, San Ysidro is a port-of-entry and the busiest border crossing in the world. The community is serviced by the San Diego Trolley line with three stops that address the highest ridership rates in all of San Diego County. An integral part of the plan will be to infuse the principles of the City's award-winning General Plan 2008 "City of Villages" strategy to embrace transit-oriented, urban mixed-use infill development in a village-like setting. The plan will address a full range of issues including land use, mobility planning for all modes of travel, complete streets, urban design, economic revitalization and historic preservation.
