879 Morro Street Office Renovation
RRM Design Group renovated and seismically retrofitted this un-reinforced, hollow, clay masonry building in Downtown San Luis Obispo for use as new City Utilities Department offices. Previously mixed-use retail on the first floor and housing on the second floor, this 3,810 sf building is now a showcase in adaptive re-use design, with sustainable features such as natural daylighting, natural ventilation, water conserving fixtures, and advanced lighting controls. The renovation also used low-VOC recycled building materials and took advantage of the City’s Waste Management Plan to reuse and recycle demolition and construction materials. The façade design enhances the image of City offices and complements the Downtown fabric.
