Cayucos Elementary School
The Cayucos Elementary School Board hired RRM Design Group to help them modernize their K-8 campus and add a multi-purpose building. As part of the modernization, all of the relocatable classrooms on campus were replaced with new, permanent construction. With abundant, natural daylight, acoustically-balanced and isolated rooms, high efficiency heating and cooling with fresh air, and multi-level indirect/direct lighting, the new classrooms provide a positive environment for learning. The modernization also extended to the existing 1936 administration building, with a complete renovation of the exterior and portions of the interior. As a result of its energy management system and highly-efficient classrooms, the new campus has reduced the District’s utility costs despite the addition of the new gymnasium. The project also included renovation of existing classrooms into a community library.
