Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Station No. 4
Pleasanton, CA
With the support of the Pleasanton City Council to promote LEED® design in public buildings, RRM Design Group created the LPFD Fire Station No. 4. This operationally responsive fire station complements the local aesthetic and establishes a unique gateway into Pleasanton’s downtown commercial core.
The station’s “green building” design resulting in LEED® Gold certification incorporates building orientation to take advantage of both solar orientation and predominant wind directions; passive alternative energy systems incorporating photovoltaic panels; bio-swales for filtering of surface drainage run-off; xeriscape landscape design minimizing the use of water for landscape purposes; implements recycled building products into the structure; and provides for management of construction debris.
In concert, the City, Fire Department, and Design Team crafted the more than 3 acres to include 7,650 sf of living, office, and fire station support spaces; a double-wide, double-deep apparatus bay; and a neighborhood park that buffers an adjoining commercial development.
