RRM Design Group was hired by the City of Los Angeles to provide a design concept for the Regional Fire Station No. 82 located in Hollywood. The new fire station is located on the northeast corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue, the "gateway" to Hollywood Boulevard at the Highway 101 interchange.
The 32,000 SF Fire Station is three stories with underground parking. The fire station will include three heavy apparatus bays, three paramedic bays, administrative offices, and firefighter living quarters. The living quarters include kitchen, dining, dayroom, restrooms and locker rooms. The sleeping quarters include dormitories for firefighters, paramedics, captains, and commander. A handball court and wellness room will be used for fitness activities.
This project will be LEED Certified, and many sustainable materials and systems have been incorporated into its design. A varigated roofing system will be used to capture and treat on site rainwater before it is piped to the storm drainage system.
The fire station will be a wonderful addition to the eclectic blend of architecture found along Hollywood Boulevard combining elements, materials and proportions from the Art Deco and Modern styles of architecture.
