Prince Memorial Greenway
Santa Rosa, CA
Enlisting widespread community participation, RRM Design Group completed the Master Plan, design development plans, and construction documents for the award-winning Prince Memorial Greenway project.
As lead urban designers and landscape architects, RRM collaborated with a team of civil engineers, hydrologists, biologists, and public artists to revitalize a ¾ mile former concrete drainage channel into a lush greenway and trail system connecting Santa Rosa’s Downtown core with its historic Railroad Square area.
After an extensive public collaboration, the design of the project emerged: a parkway with urban design, restoration, and recreation elements, including pedestrian-oriented design, a multi-modal bike and pedestrian path, parks and plazas, public sculptures, extensive restoration landscaping, and a naturalized creek bottom.
Recently featured in the national Landscape Architecture magazine, the Greenway (with completion of its final phase Gateway Park pending) is a spectacular success of a lush, thriving corridor of trails, parks, and public art.
