Burchell Hill Specific Plan with Design Guidelines

Integrating recreation and open space components, RRM Design Group prepared the Burchell Hill Specific Plan, the supporting annexation, the residential design guidelines, and the General Plan Amendment documents for this 104 acre residential area in the northeast section of the city of Oakdale.

The Specific Plan is primarily a residential plan with recreation and open space components, and it incorporates new urbanism concepts emphasizing community design with a strong sense of place and a pedestrian-friendly environment with a high level of walkability throughout the new neighborhoods.

Working with three separate property owners and processing Plan documents under the City's new General Plan policy requirements, RRM transformed utility corridors into recreational open spaces: a system of pedestrian trails interconnected within the project and integrated with surrounding neighborhoods, affording residents with easy access to valuable recreational and open space resources. Offering a variety of experiences and settings for trail users, the trail system character varies from a traditional urban neighborhood character to a rural trail character. 

As a built project, it continues to receive high marks from new and existing residents alike.
