Madonna Plaza Retail Center

San Luis Obispo, CA

RRM Design Group provided master planning, conceptual design, and construction drawings to redevelop and revitalize an existing shopping center by replacing 70,000 sf of existing stores and theaters with 65,000 sf of new retail space. RRM provided civil engineering, landscape design, and construction support services.

This project carefully addressed a need for a significant increase in parking availability, pedestrian circulation, landscape beautification, and ADA compliance. The new site improvements provided renovation and upgrade of the existing utility infrastructure and a balanced earthwork design that maintained pedestrian connections to existing storefronts.  Jurisdictional issues included coordination with Caltrans, FEMA, the City of San Luis Obispo, and the Regional Water Quality Control Board.
