Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Poultry Science Center
San Luis Obispo, CA
Coordinating with the City of San Luis Obispo Public Works, the California Department of Occupational Safety & Health (Cal-OSHA), the Division of the State Architect (Representative), the Americans with Disabilities (ADA), and the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), RRM Design Group replaced an old Poultry Unit (circa 1936 to 1953) on the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo campus with a 36,600 sf Poultry Science Instructional Center consisting of 9 buildings.
Funded by a $2,900,000 higher education bond in 1992, the main building of the new facility houses a classroom, a lab, a processing plant, and a hatchery featuring state-of-the-art mechanized technology and environment controls. Several of the outlying buildings house contemporary testing and brooding facilities.
