Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity House, San Luis Obispo, CA - Tracking LEED Gold

The Phi Sigma Zeta House Corporation of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity retained RRM Design Group to provide sustainable design, processed entitlements, a zoning change, and construction documents for their replacement Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity House in San Luis Obispo, CA.

The new 3-story, 8,830 sf building includes 16 bedrooms, an apartment for fraternity house parents and a library. The new facility is tracking LEED Gold certification and is expected to be the first LEED-NC certified building in the City of San Luis Obispo. Sustainable design features include the building orientation that utilizes passive solar design for day lighting and passive heating, solar panels on the roof’s south facing slopes, pervious pavers and concrete to minimize runoff, drought tolerant landscaping, and a stair tower that provides passive ventilation for all 3 floors.
